I even gave away my old very large workbench (new bench is coming soon). Then I got to work cleaning and preparing the floor. They tell me the secret to a good epoxy floor is in the preparation. I believe if mine fails due to poor prep then there's just no way possible to prepare for an epoxy floor. I swept and swept and then swept some more. Then I ran the shopvac. There has never been a vehicle parked in that space so I didn't have oil or tire stains, but I did have a few places where I had spilled some stain and finish. So I got out the hand grinder and set to work; about four hours later I had nearly grinded the whole floor. I then got out the degreaser/cleaner and hosed down the space and scrubbed with a very course brush. I rinsed it all off several times and then went for the etching chemical and after two full applications and four rinses, I was beat. I let it dry for about 14 hours, and it was bone dry at 0600 the next morning so I swept one more time. I then set to work on mixing the epoxy and spreading it on. This was actually the easy part after the hours of gridding and scrubbing. About 2 hours later it was all coated nicely and drying fast. I'm quite happy with it right now. Give me a few months and I'll let you know how it's holding up.
